Hiatus is a cross-arts collective whose aim is to encourage and support those whose voices are rarely heard. Join us.
Hiatus will confront the dominant hierarchy and social order, creating a new dialogue which is persuasive and ambitious. We seek to aid communities in finding an alternative means of self-expression in an accepting, safe space, for the benefit of the individual and the wider public.
Whether it be disability or neurology, we will support those on the outer edges of society. We will break down the status quo of how social minorities are currently portrayed to create our own narrative.
We are looking for individuals who identify as having a communication barrier—defined as dysfluency—which may inhibit their ability to self-express, which is out of their control. This is your opportunity to present your own creation at a public event, expressing feelings and emotions you feel comfortable doing so about your disability or barrier. Tell the World how you identify with it. It can take any form. 2D, 3D, video, installation, sculpture and so on. Any challenging formats of presentation will be considered but please let us know about these!
Hiatus will be launching an exhibition in Spring 2019 taking the form of a shared experience. We encourage you to submit an image of your work (in progress), its description, and its title to email@example.com by Sunday 3rd February by 6:00PM.
The four Hiatus artists in residence will then curate the submissions that fit the theme of the exhibition.
We want you to become a participant of Hiatus, supporting the establishment of this exciting and relevant collective.
